Detectives Investigate Attempted Armed Carjacking in White Oak; Composite Sketch of Suspect Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the July 2nd attempted armed carjacking of a 62-year-old male that occurred in White Oak.   Today, investigators are releasing a composite sketch of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.  The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 30’s with a medium to dark complexion.  He is approximately 5’8” to 5’9” tall, weighs approximately 160 to 170 pounds, and has a light beard.

The investigation by detectives determined that on Tuesday, July 2nd at approximately 5:00 a.m., the victim was cleaning his car in the parking lot area of the 11400 block of July Drive when the suspect approached while riding a black bicycle.  The suspect engaged the victim in a conversation, displayed a weapon, and demanded cash from the victim.   The suspect then entered the driver’s area of the victim’s vehicle and attempted to leave the area in the victim’s car.  The suspect was unable to start the victim’s vehicle and eventually fled the area on the bicycle without obtaining any cash or property from the victim.
