Weekend Update: Traffic Stop Leads to Gun Arrest of Prohibited Persons

The Montgomery County Department of Police - 4th District Investigative Section and Firearms Investigation Unit continue to investigate an arrest that occurred over the weekend where prohibited persons were arrested with a firearm in their possession.

An officer from the Montgomery County Department of Police - 4th District, was on patrol when he made a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Westfield Plaza Wheaton.  Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer detected an odor of marijuana and upon identifying the driver, found he had an open warrant.

During a search of the vehicle, a loaded and chambered Glock 22 was found.  A significant quantity of marijuana was also found in the vehicle.

The driver was identified as Tracy Jerome Fogle Jr, age 30, of Washington DC.

The passengers were identified as Mustafa Ali Campbell, age 20, and Kortez Malik Tresvant, age 21, both from Washington DC.  Tresvant and Campbell were identified as a prohibited persons due to prior felony convictions.

All were arrested and charged appropriately.

Commander Yamada of the 4th District stated:

"This traffic stop is just one example of the dangerous nature of policing.  The actions of our vigilant officers have taken yet another gun off the streets of Montgomery County that was in the possession of those who would possibly intend to do harm or commit violent crimes in our communities."
