Third District Officers Locate Handgun and Drugs During Traffic Stop

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, August 20, 2019

Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police-3rd District have arrested and charged Vision Lewis, age 27, of Lockwood Drive in Silver Spring, with crimes to include drug possession, drug distribution, and firearm-related offenses.

On August 16, at approximately 6:00 p.m., 3rd District officers were monitoring the White Oak area of Silver Spring when an officer observed what he believed to be a drug transaction between an individual on foot and a person in a vehicle.  The officer conducted a traffic stop of the SUV believed to be involved in the drug transaction.  The driver was identified as Lewis.

A K9 trained in the detection of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) conducted a scan of the SUV and indicated the presence of CDS.  Officers conducted a search of the inside of the vehicle as a result of the positive K9 scan and located a handgun, cocaine, suspected marijuana, and currency.

It was determined that Lewis is prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a prior criminal conviction.

Lewis was transported to the Central Processing Unit and is being held without bond.
