Detectives Investigate Bank Robbery in Gaithersburg

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating the August 26 robbery of the Navy Federal Credit Union in Gaithersburg.

On Monday, August 26, at approximately 5:50 p.m., officers from the 6th District Station, as well as officers from the Gaithersburg Police, responded to the Navy Federal Credit Union located at 104 Ellington Boulevard for the report of a robbery.  The investigation by detectives found a suspect approached a teller and passed a note announcing the robbery.  The suspect demanded cash and implied that he was armed with a weapon.  The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of currency and fled from the bank.

The suspect is described as a dark skinned male wearing hospital scrubs, a black Adidas cap, glasses, and some kind of cover on his head.

Anyone with information about the suspect or this bank robbery is asked to contact the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100.  To be eligible for a reward, tipsters may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to the arrest and/or indictment of this suspect.  Tipsters may remain anonymous.
