Detectives Investigate Attempted Burglary and Attempted Theft in Olney Believed to be Committed by Same Suspect

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 4th District Investigative Section are investigating the August 12 attempted theft from a vehicle that occurred in Olney and the August 13 attempted residential burglary that both occurred in Olney and are believed to have been committed by the same suspect.

Today, investigators are releasing surveillance video of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

The following is a summary of the two crimes:

August 12 – at approximately 4:28 a.m., home video surveillance showed the suspect entering the victim’s unlocked vehicle in the 18500 block of Shady View Lane.  The victim reported that nothing was stolen.

August 13 – at approximately 6:13 a.m., home video surveillance captured the suspect attempting to open the front door to the residence in the 18600 block of Tanterra Way.

Anyone with information regarding this suspect or these crimes is asked to call the 4th District Investigative Section at 240-773-5530. Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
