Detectives Investigate Burglary of Coin Store in Downtown Silver Spring

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police - 3rd District are investigating a burglary of a coin store located in downtown Silver Spring.  Today, investigators are releasing video surveillance of the suspect and are asking for the public's help in identifying him.

On August 30 at approximately 3:34 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to an alarm at the Bonanza Coins store located at 940 Wayne Avenue.  Officers found that the glass front door had been smashed and the business had been burglarized.  Investigation determined that the suspect broke a display case and stole approximately $6,500 worth of coins.  A witness observed the suspect leaving the area in an older model sedan, possibly a Toyota or Mazda.

Anyone with information about this suspect or burglary is asked to call the 3rd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6870.  To be eligible for a reward, tipsters may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to the arrest and/or indictment of this suspect.  Tipsters may remain anonymous.
