Detectives Investigate Serious Collision in Fairland Area of Silver Spring

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police - Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a serious, single-vehicle collision that occurred in the Fairland area of Silver Spring.

On Wednesday, September 18, at approximately 6:47 p.m., 3rd District officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the report of a collision that had just occurred in the area of 3525 Sheffield Manor Terrace.

Preliminary investigation by CRU detectives revealed that a 1998 Toyota Corolla was traveling west on Sheffield Manor Drive when for reasons still under investigation, the Corolla lost control and collided with an unoccupied 2012 Freightliner truck parked on the westbound side of the street.

The driver (and single occupant of the vehicle), 22-year-old Jaime Rodrigo Herrera of Renfrew Road in Silver Spring, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
