Detectives Investigate Multiple Burglaries in Silver Spring Believed to be Committed by Same Suspect

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police - 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating seven residential burglaries in the downtown area of Silver Spring that are believed to have been committed by the same suspect.

These residential burglaries occurred in the Chelsea Heights and Seven Oaks-Evanswood neighborhoods in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 22 and the night of Sunday, September 22. The suspect entered homes through unlocked windows and doors and primarily took cash.  Some of the homes were occupied.

Summaries of the burglaries follow (all times are approximate):

Saturday, September 21 

  • 2:36 am in the 100 block of Noyes Court
Sunday, September 22

  • 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the 100 block of Springvale Lane
  • 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm in the 8400 block of Cedar Street
  • 10:00 pm in the 700 block of Dartmouth Avenue
  • 11:13 pm in the 100 block of Ellsworth Heights Street
  • 11:30 pm (attempt burglary) in the 100 block of Ellsworth Heights Street
  • After 8:00 pm in the 100 block of Ellsworth Heights Street
Investigators are releasing surveillance video of the suspect and are asking anyone with information regarding these burglaries or the suspect involved to call the 3rd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6870.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this case.

Residents in the area are also asked to review home surveillance video and to contact detectives if they believe the suspect was captured on their security system.
