The first robbery occurred on Friday, September 27, at approximately 4:33 p.m.  The 44-year-old female was walking on the sidewalk in the 10900 block of Amherst Avenue in Wheaton when the suspect approached her from behind.  The suspect struck the victim in the face and took her book bag.  He then fled on foot.  The victim was transported to the hospital for swelling and abrasions on her face.

The second robbery occurred today, Friday, October 4, at approximately noon.  The 40-year-old female was exiting the women's restroom in the back of the Giant store located at 2900 University Boulevard West in Wheaton when she was approached by the suspect.  The suspect began to push the victim back into the restroom.  He motioned for her to be quiet and pointed a long-reach lighter in her direction.  The suspect stole the victim's phone from her shirt pocket and then ran from the store.  The victim was not injured.
