For Immediate Release: Friday, October 11, 2019

Detectives from the 6th District continue to investigate the October 6 theft of currency from a Bitcoin Automated Teller Machine (ATM) located inside a gas station in Montgomery Village.  Today, the Police Department is releasing surveillance video of the two suspects and is asking for the public’s help in identifying them.

On Sunday, October 6, at approximately 7:10 a.m., 6th District officers responded to the Sunoco located at 20050 Goshen Road for the report of a theft that had just occurred from the Bitcoin ATM.

The investigation by detectives determined that two suspects entered the store with their faces concealed and carrying pry tools.   The suspects immediately went to the ATM and began prying the machine open.  The clerk fled from the store and called the police.  The suspects were successful in obtaining an undisclosed amount of money from the machine before fleeing in a gray Chevrolet Impala.
