Media Advisory: Resident to Receive 4th District Commander’s Certificate of Appreciation for Lifesaving Actions

For Immediate Release: Friday, November 8, 2019

4th District Lieutenant Gerald McFarland will present a Rockville resident with the Commander's Certificate of Appreciation for the resident's lifesaving actions.  The person who received the lifesaving measures will also be in attendance to thank the resident and officers who came to his aid.

On October 3 at approximately 10:15 p.m., a 4th District officer was on patrol and driving his cruiser on Randolph Road near the 4th District police station when he observed a Mero bus stopped in the roadway and the driver of the bus flagging him down.

The driver explained that there was an unconscious male on the bus.  When the officer entered the bus, a passenger was performing CPR on the 24-year-old male.  The officer radioed for additional assistance to include Fire and Rescue personnel. The officer continued CPR and another officer used her automated external defibrillator (AED).  The male was transported to the hospital and has since been released.
