Juvenile Suspect Arrested for Series of Commercial Burglaries and Auto Thefts in Wheaton

Officers from the 4th District have arrested and charged a 16-year-old male juvenile from Washington, D.C. for committing a series of commercial burglaries that occurred in Wheaton between November 13 and November 21.

  • On November 13, at approximately 2:52 a.m., officers responded for a burglar alarm at the Lindsay Ford, located at 11250 Veirs Mill Road. Surveillance video showed the suspect breaking a glass door and entering the showroom. The suspect stole a Mercedes vehicle that belonged to the business.
  • On November 13, at approximately 2:53 a.m., officers responded for a burglar alarm at the Target, located at 11160 Veirs Mill Road. The same suspect is seen on surveillance video breaking the glass door and entering the business. Once inside, the suspect was not able to gain entry beyond a second door and fled.
  • On November 21 at approximately 2:56 a.m., officers responded to a burglar alarm at Lindsay Ford, located at 11180 Veirs Mill Road. The suspect from the previous burglaries is seen on surveillance video breaking the glass door and entering the business.
  • On November 21, at approximately 3:10 a.m., Officer Santos of the 4th District, was on patrol when he heard an alarm going off at the Dicks Sporting Goods, located at 11160 Veirs Mill Road. Responding officers discovered a broken store window at the business.
  • On November 21, at approximately 4:05 a.m., officers patrolling the downtown Wheaton area observe a subject matching the suspect description in both the Lindsay Ford and Dicks Sporting Goods burglaries. The suspect was subsequently arrested by the officers.
The suspect, a 16-year-old juvenile male from Washington, D.C., was arrested and charged with burglary and auto theft related offenses. The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services declined to place the juvenile suspect in custody. The juvenile was turned over to Montgomery County Juvenile Services.
