Detectives Investigate Wheaton Grocery Store Armed Robbery; Surveillance Video of Suspect Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 4th District Investigative Section continue to investigate the November 15 armed robbery of a grocery store in Wheaton.  Today, investigators are releasing surveillance video of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

On November 15, at approximately 8:10 p.m., 4th District officers responded to the Giant grocery store located at 2900 University Boulevard West for the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

The investigation by detectives determined that the suspect stole items from the store and assaulted a store security guard who attempted to stop him from leaving the store with the stolen merchandise.   After the initial confrontation, the suspect fled on foot and the security guard continued to pursue him in the store’s parking lot.  While in the parking lot, the suspect displayed a knife and attempted to assault the security guard with the knife.  The guard stopped pursuing the suspect and the suspect was last seen on foot on Valley View Avenue.
