Detectives Investigate Shooting Incident in Silver Spring

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police - 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating a shooting incident that took place last night in Silver Spring.

On Sunday evening, January 5, 2020, at approximately 5:50 pm., the Emergency Communications Center (911) received calls reporting a shooting in the area of 933 Ellsworth Drive in Silver Spring.  Officers from the 3rd District responded to the area and were able to locate a 15-year old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  The juvenile male was transported by Montgomery County Fire/Rescue personnel to a local hospital for treatment with non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was with a group of males that became involved in a dispute in the area of 933 Ellsworth Drive.  According to witnesses, the altercation resulted in shots being fired and the victim being injured.  This incident does not appear at this time to be random in nature.
