Update: Suspect Charged with Theft and Assault of Four Victims at Wheaton Mall

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 4th District Patrol Investigation Unit have charged Remy Haynes, age 21, of South Carey Street in Baltimore, for the September 23, 2019, theft and the assault of four victims committed at the Westfield Wheaton Mall.  One of the other suspects, a juvenile, has been identified and charges are forthcoming.  Detectives continue to work to identify the third suspect.

During the investigation, the police department released surveillance video of the suspects to the media and public and asked for help in identifying them.  Detectives received multiple tips identifying Haynes as one of the suspects.

On November 27, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Haynes charging her with two counts of armed robbery, four counts of second-degree assault, four counts of theft under $1,500, and one count of malicious destruction of property.

On December 19, Haynes was arrested in Fairfax, Virginia, on unrelated charges.    Haynes remains in custody in Virginia pending extradition to Montgomery County.
