Detectives Investigate Armed Robbery of Beer and Wine Store in Derwood; Surveillance Video of Suspect Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the January 2 armed robbery of a beer and wine store in Derwood. Today, investigators are releasing surveillance video of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

On Thursday, January 2, at approximately 2:29 p.m., 1st District officers responded to the Midway Beer and Wine store located at 16057 Frederick Road for the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

The investigation by detectives revealed that the suspect entered the store with his face concealed and armed with a handgun.  The suspect threatened two employees and demanded cash from the business.  The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of currency from the business and was last seen fleeing the area in a metallic brown 2016 or later model Nissan Altima.  Detectives determined that during the robbery, the Altima was parked nearby on Frederick Road and was being driven by an additional suspect.

Anyone with information regarding the suspects or this armed robbery is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100. Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this case.
