Detectives Investigate Theft from Vehicle in Potomac Area; Surveillance Video of Suspect Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 1st District Patrol Investigations Unit continue to investigate the January 7 theft from a vehicle that occurred in the Potomac area.  Today, detectives are releasing surveillance video of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

The investigation by detectives determined that at approximately 3:02 a.m. on January 7, the suspect was observed on home video surveillance entering the victim’s car which had been parked in the 12000 block of Coldstream Drive.  The suspect stole property from inside the victim’s vehicle and then left the area.

Since early January, detectives have been investigating a series of thefts from vehicles that occurred in residential neighborhoods around Falls Road, Tuckerman Lane, and Montrose Road in the Rockville area.  Thefts from unlocked vehicles continue to be a high-volume crime in Montgomery County. Police urge all residents to take a role in preventing this type of crime by removing valuables from vehicles and locking all doors.

Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
