For Immediate Release: Tuesday, March 10, 2020

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have charged Demarco J. Allen, age 21, of the 4700 block of Foote Street in Northeast, Washington, D.C., with carjacking and assault-related offenses for a carjacking that occurred early yesterday morning in front of a residence in downtown Siler Spring.

On Monday, March 9 at approximately 3:40 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the 1500 block of East Falkland Lane for the report of a carjacking that had just occurred.

The investigation by detectives determined that a 58-year-old male was standing outside of his Honda CRV while the car was warming up on East Falkland Lane.  The victim reported that the suspect walked past him and entered the driver’s side of the Honda.  The victim confronted the suspect and the suspect assaulted the victim.  After the assault, the suspect re-entered the victim’s Honda and fled in the stolen car.  The suspect struck a parked car on East Falkland lane as he fled the area in the victim’s stolen vehicle.

A short time later, a 3rd District officer observed the stolen Honda in the 1100 block of Bonifant Street in downtown Silver Spring.   After observing the officer, the suspect fled from the vehicle on foot.  Additional officers who had responded to the area observed the suspect running on Georgia Avenue.  The suspect was eventually arrested in the 8300 block of Georgia Avenue and identified as Allen.

Allen was transported to the Central Processing Unit where he was charged with carjacking, robbery, second-degree assault, and motor vehicle theft.  He is being held without bond.
