Detectives Investigate Shots Fired in Downtown Crown Area in Gaithersburg

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police– 6th District Investigative Section are investigating the discharge of a firearm that occurred on the evening of Monday, March 30, in the area of the Crown neighborhood in Gaithersburg.

No victims were reported to having been struck by the gunfire and officers did not locate any damage to property.

On Monday, March 30, at approximately 10:07 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center (911) received multiple calls for the sound of shots fired in the Crown neighborhood (in the area of Crown Park Avenue, Fields Road, Hendrix Avenue, Goodall Street, and Baldwin Street).

6th District officers and Gaithersburg police officers responded to the area and located three spent shell casings in the 300 block of Baldwin Street.

During this investigation, detectives have spoken with homeowners whose video surveillance audio captured the sound of gunshots.  Detectives have also obtained home video surveillance that captures a vehicle driving in the area around the time of the gunshots.  At this time, investigators do not have any evidence to indicate that the vehicle is involved in the incident.

This remains an ongoing investigation. Investigators are asking those homeowners and businesses in the area who have not already reviewed their surveillance camera footage from that evening to please do so and contact investigators if their cameras captured anything pertinent to this investigation.  Anyone with information regarding this incident or the suspects involved is also asked to call 6th District investigators at: 240-773-5770.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this case.
