Chief Marcus G. Jones of the Montgomery County Department of Police is pleased to announce the appointments of four new Assistant Chiefs of Police.
Today, the Montgomery County Council unanimously confirmed the appointments of Assistant Chief Ronald Smith, Assistant Chief Thomas Didone, Assistant Chief Willie Parker-Loan, and Assistant Chief Dinesh Patil.
Investigative Services Bureau - Assistant Chief Ronald Smith has been an officer for the Montgomery County Department of Police since 1981. He has served as an executive officer in all four bureaus of the police department. He has served as the Acting Assistant Chief of the Investigative Services Bureau since June 2019. Prior to his current temporary assignment, he served as the Director of the Special Investigations Division.
Field Services Bureau - Assistant Chief Thomas Didone, a second-generation police officer, has been with the Montgomery County Department of Police since 1986. He has worked various assignments throughout the department during his fourteen years before being promoted to Captain in 2000. Assistant Chief Didone was previously the Commander of the 5th District and the Director of the Traffic Division before being assigned as Acting Assistant Chief of the Field Services Bureau in December 2019.
Patrol Services Bureau - Assistant Chief Willie Parker-Loan has been with the Montgomery County Department of Police since 1989. He has served as an executive officer in various positions throughout the department, including Commander of the 6th District and Director of the Internal Affairs Division. Assistant Chief Parker-Loan was Director of the Special Victims Investigations Division prior to being assigned as Acting Assistant Chief for the Patrol Services Bureau in January 2020.
Management Services Bureau - Assistant Chief Dinesh Patil has been with the Montgomery County Department of Police since 1994. He has served in various positions throughout the department in his 26 years of service, to include Director of the Personnel Division, and Special Investigations Division, then serving as Commander of the 6th District before being assigned as Acting Assistant Chief for the Management Services Bureau in March 2019.
