Detectives Investigate Series of Shootings in Burtonsville Area

For Immediate Release: Friday, April 17, 2020

Montgomery County Department of Police - 3rd District detectives continue to investigate a series of shootings that have occurred in the Burtonsville area.  These shootings do not appear to be random.  Detectives believe that there are persons in these communities who have information about these shootings and the suspects involved and are urging those people with information to come forward to the Police Department.

Series of Shootings in Burtonsville

• Wednesday, April 8, at approximately 7:55 p.m: The Emergency Communications Center (911) received multiple calls for the sound of shots fired in the 14600 block of Wexhall Terrace.  Responding officers located an 18-year old male victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.  During the on-scene investigation, officers located multiple shell casings in the area.

• Thursday, April 9, at approximately 10:00 p.m.: The Emergency Communications Center (911) received multiple calls for the sound of shots fired in the 3600 block of Silver Spruce Circle.  Responding officers arrived on scene and located multiple shell casings in the area.

• Sunday, April 12, at approximately 12:00 a.m.: The Emergency Communications Center (911) received multiple calls for the sound of shots fired in the area of Greencastle Road and Turnbridge Drive. Responding officers arrived on scene and located multiple shell casings in the area.

• Tuesday, April 14, at approximately 2:35 p.m.: The Emergency Communications Center (911) received multiple calls for the sound of shots fired in the 1400 block of Castle Boulevard/Edgewood Park area.

• Tuesday, April 14, at approximately 2:35 p.m.:  The Emergency Communications Center (911) received multiple calls for the sound of shots fired in the area of Edgewood Park. Responding officers arrived on scene and located multiple shell casings in Edgewood Park.

• Friday, April 17, at approximately 3:25 a.m.: The Emergency Communications Center (911) received multiple calls for the sound of shots fired in the area of Crosswood Drive. Responding officers arrived on scene and located multiple shell casings in the area.

Investigators are asking that anyone with information about these shootings or the identities of the suspect(s) involved contact the 3rd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6870. Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this case. Callers may remain anonymous.
