Update: Two Suspects Arrested for Fairland Area Home Invasion Robbery

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, April 29, 2020

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged Dean Roy Thomas, age 49, of the 14700 block of 4^th Street in Laurel, and Luke Hinds, age 41, of the 1100 block of Woodduck Court in Upper Marlboro, with home invasion and robbery-related offenses following a January 10 home invasion robbery that occurred at a Fairland area residence.

On Friday, January 10, at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers from the 3rd District responded to a residence in the 3000 block of Piano Lane for the report of a home invasion robbery that had just occurred. The preliminary investigation by detectives determined that the victim was sleeping in an upstairs bedroom when two suspects entered the home through an unlocked window. The first suspect entered the bedroom where the victim was sleeping, pointed a handgun at the victim, and told the victim to cover his head with the blanket.  The suspect stole a safe and other property belonging to the victim.  Detectives believe that the second suspect remained downstairs and acted as a lookout during the robbery.

During the investigation, detectives developed Hinds and Thomas as the suspects.  Investigators obtained Montgomery County arrest warrants for Hinds and Thomas charging them with home invasion and robbery-related offenses.

Hinds was arrested on the strength of the warrant on February 12.  He is currently being held without bond.  On April 28, Thomas was arrested on the strength of the warrant.  He is currently being held without bond.
