Suspect Arrested for Rockville Homicide

For Immediate Release: Monday, May 4, 2020

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police - Major Crimes Division have charged Jaime Havier Lee, age, 40, of an unconfirmed address, with the first-degree murder of 36-year-old Cornelius Lyon of an unconfirmed address.

On Saturday, May 2, at approximately 12:50 p.m., 1st District and Rockville City officers responded to the report of an injured person in the 100 block of Frederick Avenue in Rockville.  Officers located the victim, Lyon, deceased; he had cutting and stab wounds to his body.  There were people surrounding the victim who had observed the stabbing and were able to provide a description of the suspect, who was later identified as Lee.

The suspect's description was broadcast on the police radio and officers circulated the area looking for the suspect.  A short time later, Rockville City officers located Lee in the area.  He was arrested.

The investigation by Major Crimes detectives has determined that Lee, Lyon, and the witnesses were inside an apartment located in the 700 block of Lenmore Avenue.  Lee and Lyon became involved in a verbal argument which escalated and Lee stabbed Lyon.  Everyone then fled the apartment.

Lyon's body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Baltimore where an autopsy will be conducted.

Lee was transported to the Central Processing Unit and was charged with first-degree murder.
