Detectives Investigate Armed Robbery of a Motel in Rockville; Surveillance Video of Suspect Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating the armed robbery of a Red Roof Plus motel that occurred yesterday afternoon in Rockville.  Today, detectives are releasing surveillance video of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

On Tuesday, May 12 at approximately 3:45 p.m., 1st District officers responded to the Red Roof Plus motel located at 16001 Shady Grove Road for a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.  The investigation by detectives determined that the suspect entered the motel’s lobby and approached an employee who was behind the counter.  The suspect threatened the employee with a knife and removed the cash from the register.  The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.  The suspect was last seen on foot in the area of Shady Grove Road and Frederick Road (MD Route 355).
