Detectives Investigate Robbery of Taxi Driver in Viers Mill Area; Surveillance Video Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the May 12 robbery of a taxi driver that occurred in the Viers Mill area.  Today, investigators are releasing a surveillance video of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

The investigation by detectives revealed that at approximately 7:50 p.m., a Riatero taxi service driver arrived at the 2100 block of Glenallen Avenue in Glenmont to pick up a customer who was requesting to be taken to the 12400 block of Connecticut Avenue in the Viers Mill area.  During the ride, the suspect instructed the driver to stop at the intersection of Fairly Street and Feldon Street.  Once the taxi vehicle stopped, the suspect stole a container in the vehicle which contained the proceeds from the taxi service.  The suspect fled from the vehicle and was last seen on foot on Fairly Street.
