Detectives Investigate Fraudulent Use of Victim’s Stolen Credit Card; Surveillance Photos of Suspects Released

Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District Community Action Team are investigating the fraudulent use of the victim’s stolen credit card by three female suspects.  Today, Investigators are releasing surveillance photographs of the three suspects and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.

The investigation by officers determined that on June 24, the victim’s credit card was stolen while she was shopping at a store located on Old Georgetown Road in the Bethesda area.  A short time later, the three suspects fraudulently used the victim’s stolen credit to purchase approximately $1,500 worth of gift cards at the Harris Teeter grocery store located at 12525 Park Potomac Avenue in the Rockville area.

Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding the suspects to call the 5th District station at 240-773-6200.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).

Crime Solvers may pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.

The Department urges residents to follow these tips to help prevent having their purse and/or wallet stolen:

Carry your purse as close to your body as possible and keep it in sight at all times.

Carry your wallet in an inside coat or front pants pocket.

Do not become distracted.  Stay alert and be aware of your surroundings at all times.
