Suspect Arrested for Shooting of Two Victims in White Oak Area; Charged with Attempted First-Degree Murder

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police - 3rd District have arrested Justice Elliott, age 16, of Lyric Lane in Silver Spring, for the shooting of two victims in White Oak yesterday.  Elliott is being charged as an adult with offenses to include attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and firearm-related offenses.  This shooting is not random as one of the victims and the suspect are known to one another.

On Thursday, August 27, at approximately 2:05 p.m., officers responded to the 11500 block of Stewart Lane for the report of a shooting.  Officers located the two victims, an 82-year-old male and a 20-year-old male, inside of a vehicle; both victims were suffering from gunshot wounds.  Officers rendered aid to the victims to include applying tourniquets.  The victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  Several of the vehicle's windows had been shattered by bullets and several bullet holes were found on the vehicle.

Investigation by detectives has determined that the 20-year-old victim was walking on Stewart Lane with friends when he was approached by Elliott (who the victim was acquainted with) and another unknown male.  Elliott appeared to be holding a handgun and demanded money from the victim.  Elliott then went in the victim's pockets and removed cash.  The victim fled to a vehicle in the area being driven by his 82-year-old family member and entered the passenger seat.  Elliott began to shoot at the vehicle, striking both victims, and then fled.  Officers at the scene located spent shell casings and an officer located a loaded handgun with an extended magazine in bushes near a path that Elliott used to flee the area.

Through investigation, Elliott was identified as the suspect and was arrested by officers at approximately 4:45 p.m. that day (August 27).  He was transported to the Central Processing Unit.
