Suspects Arrested for Robbery at Downtown Silver Spring Hotel

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, September 2, 2020

Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police - 3rd District have arrested and charged Brianna Lloyd, age 25, of Alexandria, Virginia, and Abdul-Aziz Rahman, age 43, of Alexandria, Virginia, with the robbery of a 26-year-old man at a hotel in downtown Silver Spring.

On September 1 at approximately 3:49 a.m., officers responded to a hotel located in the 8700 block of Georgia Avenue for the report of an assault that had just occurred.  Officers were met with the victim, who stated that he had just been robbed of his wallet (containing cash and credit cards) by a male and female and also assaulted by the male with a baton.  The victim was able to provide a description of the two suspects.

An officer looking for the suspects located a male and female, whose appearances matched those of the suspects, exiting the stairwell of the hotel parking garage.  The officer stopped the two people and identified the female as Lloyd and the male as Rahman.

While placing Lloyd under arrest, cash fell out of her clothes.  Lloyd was found to be in possession of the victim's driver's license and several of the victim's credit cards as well as in possession of a knife.  Rahman was found to be in possession of two knives and suspected drugs in plastic wrapping.  Officers located a black baton and the victim's wallet in a trash can in close proximity to where the two suspects were arrested.

Lloyd and Rahman were transported to the Central Processing Unit and charged with armed robbery, theft, and second-degree assault.

The victim was treated for his non-life-threatening injuries at the scene by Fire and Rescue personnel.
