National Night Out Events Cancelled for 2020

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, September 9, 2020

Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Police Department's annual National Night Out has been cancelled for 2020.

National Night Out is traditionally held the first Tuesday of August and is a national community-building campaign that encourages police-neighborhood relationships.  Neighborhoods and the Department organize events that help residents and officers get to know one another better, build community spirit, and demonstrate a community’s commitment to keeping their neighborhood free from crime.

This year, due to the pandemic, the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), which sponsors National Night Out, encouraged police departments to postpone events until October.  For the continued well-being of Montgomery County residents, Chief Jones has made the difficult decision to cancel National Night Out for 2020.

The Department looks forward to the future when we can all safely come together again!
