Two Suspects Arrested for Stolen Vehicle and Drug Offenses After Fleeing in Stolen SUV During Attempted Traffic Stop

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, September 22, 2020

Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District have arrested and charged Humberto Guerra, age 25, of the 12000 block of Bronzegate Place in Calverton, and Chassadee Martin, age 20, of the 10400 block of Montrose Avenue in Rockville, with vehicle theft and drug-related offenses following a September 20 attempted traffic stop of a stolen vehicle in White Oak.

On Sunday, September 20 at approximately 11:52 p.m., a 3rd District officer observed a Honda CRV commit a traffic violation in the 12200 block of Tech Road.  A computer check of the Honda’s license plate revealed that the Honda had been reported as stolen from Montgomery County on September 7. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the Honda, but the driver failed to stop and fled in the vehicle.   Officers pursued the stolen Honda onto Apple Grove Road where the Honda left the roadway.  Officers observed the male driver and the female passenger flee on foot from the Honda.  Two MCP K9 officers located and arrested both suspects, now identified as Guerra and Martin, hiding in a wooded area behind a residence on Apple Grove Road.  During a search of the Honda, officers located suspected crystal methamphetamine inside the car.

Guerra and Martin were transported to the Central Processing Unit and were charged with vehicle theft, theft: $1,500 to under $25,000, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Guerra was released after posting $750 (ten percent of a $7,500 bond).  Martin was released after posting $500 (10 percent of a $5,000 bond).
