Detectives Investigate Armed Carjacking in Silver Spring Area

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division continues to investigate an armed carjacking that occurred on September 19 in the Silver Spring area.

On Saturday, September 19, at approximately 6:53 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the 8600 block of Cedar Street for a report of a stolen vehicle. The investigation determined that the adult male victim was making deliveries for Amazon in the area when he was confronted by two black males wearing hooded sweatshirts and masks, and both armed with a handgun. One suspect took the victim’s car keys and fled in the victim’s silver Chevrolet Malibu. The other suspect fled in a gray vehicle the two suspects initially arrived in.

The stolen vehicle was later recovered unoccupied in Washington, D.C.

Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this crime.
