Detectives Investigating Armed Carjacking and Abduction in Aspen Hill; Suspects Drove Victim to ATM to Withdraw Cash

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, October 7, 2020

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division are investigating an armed carjacking and abduction of an adult male that occurred in the Aspen Hill area on Sunday, September 27.  The Police Department is releasing photographs of one of the three suspects and is asking anyone with information about the suspects or this abduction and carjacking to come forward to the Department.

The investigation by detectives has determined that at approximately 4:15 a.m. on September 27, the victim was driving home from work when he noticed a four-door dark colored vehicle behind him driving aggressively and fast.  In the 3800 block of Grand Pre Road, the victim slowed down and motioned with his hand for the vehicle to pass him.  The vehicle then passed the victim's car and stopped in its path, forcing the victim to stop his vehicle.

Three males exited their vehicle and approached the victim's vehicle.  Two suspects displayed handguns.  The suspects grabbed the victim out of the driver's seat and pushed him in the rear passenger seat.  The suspects then ordered the victim to give them his phone and the passwords for his mobile payment apps.  They attempted to get money from his apps and then took his wallet containing credit cards and cash.  The suspects ordered the victim to give them his Personal Identification Number (PIN ) for his debit card.

The suspects then drove the victim to his bank located in Aspen Hill and withdrew money from his account.  During the drive, the suspects continued to point their guns at the victim.

After driving around for an unknown amount of time, the suspects drove the victim to the area of New Hampshire Avenue and Cape May Road and told him to get out of his vehicle and not to look back or call police.

The victim began walking and arrived at his home in Aspen Hill at approximately 7:30 a.m.

The victim's vehicle has not been located.
