Officers Respond to Suspicious Activity Call in Montgomery Village and Locate Suspect Hiding and Armed with Loaded Handgun

For Immediate Release: Thursday, October 8, 2020

Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police - 6th District have arrested Christopher Bacchus, age 28, of Snouffer School Road in Gaithersburg, with firearm-related offenses to include possession of a loaded handgun and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

On October 7 at approximately 12:06 a.m., the Emergency Communications Center (911 call center) received a call from a resident who saw two males using flashlights to look over the backyard fences of townhomes located in the 8700 block of Ravenglass Way in Montgomery Village.

The first responding officer walked to the fence line where the witness had seen the males and saw a person with a flashlight run away.  The officer watched as the male ran to the townhome community parking lot and put an unknown object underneath a parked vehicle.  The male, later identified as Bacchus, then walked away from the vehicle and attempted to hide behind a mound of grass.

The officer approached Bacchus and Bacchus stated that he was looking for his keys.  When additional officers responded to the call, the first responding officer went to the vehicle where he had observed Bacchus put something down on the ground and located a loaded handgun.

Bacchus was placed under arrest.  He provided an incorrect spelling of his last name and a false date of birth but officers were able to confirm his identity via his driver's license that he had in his possession.

Firearms Investigations Unit (FIU) detectives determined that Bacchus is prohibited from possessing a handgun due to prior criminal convictions.

Bacchus was transported to the Central Processing Unit and is being held without bond.
