For Immediate Release: Monday, October 12, 2020

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are now investigating the September 17 shooting of a 45-year-old woman by her husband that occurred inside their home in the 19400 block of Sandy Lake Drive in Gaithersburg as a homicide.   The victim, identified as Natasha Price, succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital on October 9.

On Thursday, September 17, at approximately 10:18 a.m., 6th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to a residence on Sandy Lake Drive for the report of a shooting that just occurred. Officers located Price in the home, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers immediately performed life-saving measures on her. Fire and Rescue personnel transported Price to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

An investigation by detectives determined that family members, who were inside the home, heard a gunshot and went to the victim’s bedroom. The family members found Price suffering from a gunshot wound and observed her husband, Allen Price Jr. jumping out of the second-story window and fleeing.

Responding officers, including K9 officers, officers from the Maryland-National Capital Park Police, and the Maryland State Police helicopter, searched the surrounding areas for Price Jr.   Approximately 90 minutes after the shooting, officers located Price Jr. hiding in a wooded area on Broadwater Drive in Gaithersburg. Price Jr. was arrested, and officers located a loaded handgun near where he was found.

On September 17, Price Jr. was charged with attempted first-degree murder and was ordered held without bond.  Price Jr. will now be charged with first-degree murder.
