Witness Observes Suspect Break Into Hillandale Starbucks; Officers Respond and Locate Suspect in Area

For Immediate Release: Friday, October 23, 2020

Officers from the 3rd District have arrested and charged Matias Concha, age 33, of Leisure World Boulevard, with the burglary of the Starbucks coffee shop located at 10155 New Hampshire Avenue in Hillandale.

On October 23 just after midnight, the Emergency Communications Center (911 Center) received a call from a witness who had just observed a man use a metal chair outside of the Hillandale Starbucks to break a window and enter the business through the broken window.  After some time, the witness observed the male then exit the Starbucks with items and walk across the street.  The witness was able to provide a description of the suspect.

A responding officer observed a male walking in the area who matched the description of the suspect and who was carrying items in his hand.  The man was taken into custody and was identified as Concha.  The items that Concha was holding were determined to be stolen from the Starbucks.

Officers searched the Starbucks and located a cash register and food items that were now on the floor.

Concha was transported to the Central Processing Unit and charged with second-degree burglary.  Bond information is not available at this time.
