Detectives Investigating Possible Bias-Based Armed Robbery of Adult Male at Gym in Wheaton

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 4th District Investigative Section continue to investigate the October 15 armed robbery of an adult male that occurred inside a gym in Wheaton.   Investigators believe that the suspect may have targeted the victim due to the suspect’s perceived sexual orientation of the victim.  Today, detectives are releasing surveillance video of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

On October 15, at approximately 5:07 p.m., 4th District officers responded to a gym located in the 11000 block of Veirs Mill Road for the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.  The victim stated that he was in the locker room when the suspect approached him.  The suspect made a derogatory remark regarding the victim's perceived sexual orientation, displayed a weapon, and demanded property.   The suspect stole property from the victim and fled.
