Suspect Arrested and Charged for Stabbing in Wheaton

For Immediate Release: Monday, November 9, 2020

Officers from the 4th District have arrested and charged Nelly Lovette Moore, age 22, of the 9200 block of Hummingbird Terrace in Gaithersburg, with assault-related charges for the November 1 stabbing of an adult male that occurred outside the Wheaton Metro Station located in the 11100 block of Georgia Avenue in Wheaton.  Detectives do not believe that Moore knew the victim.

On November 1, at approximately 7:00 pm, officers responded to the area outside the Wheaton Metro Station for the report of a stabbing that just occurred.  Responding officers located the victim suffering from a stab wound to his leg.  Officers immediately applied a tourniquet to the victim’s leg.  Fire and Rescue personnel transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

A witness to the stabbing provided officers with a description of the female suspect.  Responding officers, who observed the suspect fleeing the area, began pursuing her on foot.   A short time later, a second witness alerted officers to the suspect’s location which was near the metro station.  Officers located the suspect, now identified as Moore, and arrested her.  The investigation determined that Moore and the victim were involved in an altercation prior to the stabbing.

Moore was transported to the Central Processing Unit and is being held on a $5,000 bond.
