For Immediate Release: Friday, November 20, 2020

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the November 17 attempted armed robbery of a Verizon store located in Derwood.  Today, investigators are releasing surveillance video of the robbery and of the two suspects and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.

On Tuesday, November 17, at approximately 2:24 p.m., officers responded to the report of an attempted armed robbery at the Verizon store located at 1750 Muncaster Mill Road. The investigation by Major Crimes detectives has determined that two suspects entered the store, assaulted an employee, and implied that they were armed with guns.  The suspects demanded property from a back room of the store.  The suspects were unable to gain access to that room and fled without obtaining any property.   The employee who was assaulted was treated at the scene for minor injuries.  The suspects were last seen fleeing the area in a black 2020 Volkswagen R-Line four-door sedan.

Anyone with information about these suspects or this attempted robbery is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100. Those who wish to remain anonymous may contact Crime Solvers by phone at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477), online, or via the Crime Solvers app.  Crime Solvers may pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this case.
