Officers Arrest Silver Spring Burglary Suspect as He Attempts to Flee Area

For Immediate Release: Monday, November 30, 2020

Officers from the 3rd District have arrested and charged Brady Santos, age 31, of Washington, D.C, with the burglary of storage units in Silver Spring.  Upon his arrest, Santos was also served with two criminal warrants.  Detectives are looking into the possibility that Santos committed additional storage facility burglaries in the area.

On November 19 at approximately 9:11 am, officers responded to the Extra Space Storage facility located at 7722 Fenton Street for a burglary that had just occurred.  Officers met with an employee who stated that the suspect was observed entering and exiting the property through a secure metal gate.  The employee was able to provide a description of the suspect and stated that he believed the suspect to be Santos.  The employee explained that Santos was a former customer at an Extra Space Storage facility in Washington, D.C. and had been banned from all locations.

The suspect's description was provided to officers via police radio.  An officer observed a male walking on Fenton Street toward Burlington Avenue who matched the suspect's description.  When the officer called out to the suspect to stop, the suspect ran and discarded a suitcase and two bags that he had been carrying.  Officers were able to stop and arrest the male in the 8000 block of Georgia Avenue and identify him as Santos.

Tools used to commit burglary and theft were located on Santos and in his bags.

Santos was transported to the Central Processing Unit and was charged with second-degree burglary.  He is being held without bond.
