Suspect Charged with Bethesda Bank Robbery

For Immediate Release: Monday, December 14, 2020

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have charged Wesley Phillip Wilson, age 40, of an unconfirmed address, with the November 28 armed robbery of a TD Bank in Bethesda.

On November 28, at approximately 12:30 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the TD Bank located at 8101 Wisconsin Avenue for the report of an armed robbery that just occurred.  The investigation by detectives revealed that the suspect (later identified as Wilson) approached a teller, passed a note implying that he was armed, and announced the robbery.  The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of currency and fled from the bank.

On December 7, Wilson was arrested by law enforcement agencies in Virginia after he committed a bank robbery in Manassas.  Information regarding Wilson’s arrest was then shared with surrounding jurisdictions.  Major Crimes detectives determined that Wilson was the same suspect who committed the November 28 TD Bank robbery in Bethesda.

MCP investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Wilson charging him with one count of robbery.  Wilson remains in custody in Virginia.
