For Immediate Release: Thursday, December 17, 2020

Officers from the 6th District have arrested Damien Fisher, age 42, of an unknown address, for the carjacking of an 80-year-old food delivery driver.

Yesterday, December 16, at approximately 1:00 p.m., an ambulance driver notified police dispatch that he had just been flagged down by a man in the area of the Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center (9901 Medical Center Drive in Rockville). As ambulance personnel were tending to the man’s injuries, the man stated that he had just been carjacked.

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. Officers responded to the hospital and learned that the victim had just made a food delivery to a business in the area of 9800 Medical Center Drive.  The victim's vehicle was stopped at an intersection when the suspect, later identified as Fisher, approached the vehicle and asked the victim for a ride.  The victim declined and Fisher then forcefully removed the victim from his vehicle and pushed him to the ground.

The victim was able to provide his vehicle information and a description of the suspect to officers.  At approximately 1:30 p.m., an officer located the vehicle in the area of Great Seneca Highway and Key West Avenue.  Officers followed the vehicle as it travelled to the top floor of a parking garage. Fisher was then apprehended by officers.

Fisher was transported to the Central Processing Unit and charged with carjacking.
