Fourth District Officers Arrest Suspect in Possession of Gun After Reported Armed Robbery in Wheaton

Fourth District officers have arrested and charged Juan C. Cedillo-Hernandez, age 20, of the 13100 block of Parkland Drive in Rockville, with criminal offenses to include possession of a handgun, possession of a handgun by a prohibited person, and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

On Wednesday, December 16 at approximately 2:43 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center received a call from a person who had just witnessed a robbery on Dalewood Drive.  The witness reported that he/she had observed a suspect with a gun rob a resident and then flee in a vehicle.   The witness further stated that he/she had followed the suspect’s vehicle to a gas station located on Veirs Mill Road and that the vehicle was currently parked at the gas station.

Responding officers located the suspect’s vehicle at the gas station and observed three individuals inside the car.   Cedillo-Hernandez was identified as the front-seat passenger.   During a pat-down of Cedillo-Hernandez, officers located a loaded handgun inside Cedillo-Hernandez’s front jacket pocket.  Officers also observed approximately seven ounces of marijuana on the front passenger seat floorboard of the suspects’ vehicle.  

Officers were unable to locate the robbery victim.

Cedillo-Hernandez was transported to the Central Processing Unit and is being held on a $1,000 bond.
