Detectives Investigate Armed Robbery of McDonald’s in Gaithersburg; Surveillance Video Released

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the December 18 armed robbery of a McDonald’s restaurant located in Gaithersburg.  Today, investigators are releasing surveillance video of the male suspect and are asking anyone with information about this robbery or this suspect to come forward to the Police Department.

On Friday, December 18 at approximately 1:03 a.m., 6th District officers and Gaithersburg Police Department offices responded to the McDonald’s located at 465 N. Frederick Avenue for the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. The investigation by Major Crimes detectives determined that the suspect walked up to the drive-thru window and confronted an employee who was working at the window.  The suspect displayed a handgun, threatened the employee, and demanded cash from the business.  The suspect reached through the open drive-thru window and stole a cash drawer.   The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot toward Odendhal Avenue.
