Detectives Investigate Assault and Attempted Carjacking in Germantown; Surveillance Video Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police - Major Crimes Division are investigating the assault of a 19-year-old female and the attempted carjacking of her vehicle that occurred this morning at a gas station in Germantown.  Investigators are releasing surveillance video of the male suspect and are asking anyone with information about the suspect to come forward to the Department.

At approximately 8:00 a.m. this morning (Thursday, December 31), 5th District officers responded to a gas station located at 18701 Liberty Mill Road for the report of an attempted carjacking that had just occurred.

The investigation by detectives determined that the victim was standing outside her vehicle at a gas pump when the suspect approached her.  The suspect demanded the victim’s car keys and then assaulted the victim.  The suspect did not obtain the victim’s car keys and fled the area on foot.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect or this attempted carjacking is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100.
