Teenager Wanted for First-Degree Assault with Handgun; Arrested and Found to be in Possession of Gun

On the evening of December 30, 4th District – Community Action Team officers arrested a 16-year-old male for possession of a handgun.

 

In the area of Veirs Mill Road and University Boulevard West, officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle whose rear-seat passenger, Josue Garcia of Silver Spring, had an arrest warrant for first-degree assault with a handgun. After placing Garcia under arrest, officers recovered a loaded handgun from inside his waistband. Garcia was also in possession of suspected marijuana.

 

Garcia was charged as an adult with several additional crimes related to carrying a handgun and with possession of a regulated firearm by a person under 21 years of age. He was transported to the Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.


**A mugshot will not be released because Garcia is a juvenile.
