Suspect Arrested and Charged with January 18 Homicide in Hillandale

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, January 19, 2021

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Major Crimes Division have charged 21-year-old Andre R. Moore of the 900 block of Balmoral Drive in Hillandale with the homicide of a Michael Sutton, age 40.  The investigation determined that Moore and Sutton were tenants of the same residence on Balmoral Drive.

On January 18 at approximately 12:42 p.m., 3^rd District officers responded to a home in the 900 block of Balmoral Drive for the report of a shooting that had just occurred.  Responding officers located Sutton deceased inside the home with trauma to his body.   

During the investigation, detectives identified Moore as the suspect and determined that he had fled the home on foot prior to police arrival.  Shortly after responding to the home, 3^rd District officers located and arrested Moore approximately one mile from the residence.

Sutton’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Baltimore where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Moore was transported to the Central Processing Unit where he was charged with one count of first-degree murder.  He is being held without bond.
