Detectives Investigating Attempted Bank Robbery in Gaithersburg; Surveillance Photos Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating the attempted robbery of a M&T Bank that occurred on January 28 in Gaithersburg.  Today, investigators are releasing surveillance photographs of the male suspect and his vehicle are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

On Thursday, January 28, at approximately 1:49 p.m., 6th District officers responded to the M&T Bank located at 5 Bank Street for the report of a robbery.  The investigation by detectives determined that the suspect approached a teller, announced the robbery, and demanded cash.  The suspect did not obtain any currency from the bank and was last seen fleeing the area in a black Chevrolet Malibu.

Anyone with information about the suspect or this bank robbery is asked to contact the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100.  To be eligible for a reward, tipsters may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or submit a Crime Solvers tip online or via the app.  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to the arrest and/or indictment of this suspect.  Tipsters will remain anonymous.
