Major Crimes Detectives Investigating Homicide in Gaithersburg

For Immediate Release: Friday, February 5, 2021

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division are investigating a homicide that was discovered yesterday, February 4, in Gaithersburg. The victim has been identified as Tyshun Gary Jaheim Williams, age 19, of Washington, D.C.

On Thursday, February 4, at approximately 3:19 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center received a call from a person who observed a person lying on the ground behind a business located in the 15700 block of Shady Grove Road.

Officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded and located Williams deceased from trauma to his upper body.

Williams’ body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Baltimore, where the manner and cause of death was ruled homicide by gunshot.

Investigators believe that Williams was killed in the late evening hours of Wednesday, February 3.

The Department urges anyone who has information about this homicide to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070. 

Detectives also ask that anyone who was in the area during the time period investigators believe the homicide occurred (February 3 in the late evening) and observed suspicious activity to call the Major Crimes Division.
