Detectives Investigate Multiple Thefts from Vehicles Parked in Downtown Silver Spring Parking Garages; Surveillance Photographs of Suspects Released

For Immediate Release: Thursday, February 11, 2021

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – 3rd District Patrol Investigations Unit continue to investigate the thefts from 21 vehicles that occurred in multiple parking garages in the Central Business District of Silver Spring on the same day in December of 2020. Today, detectives are releasing surveillance photographs of three male suspects and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.

During the late evening hours of December 22, 2020, several suspects were observed breaking into a vehicle in the parking garage located at 786 Ellsworth Drive. A witness called 9-1-1 but the suspects fled the area prior to police arrival.  Investigators determined that the suspects had been in the Ellsworth Place mall located at 8661 Colesville Road in downtown Silver Spring just prior to committing the theft.

Detectives believe that these suspects may be responsible for all or some of the 21 thefts reported during that time period.

Anyone with information regarding these suspects is asked to call the 3rd District Patrol Investigations Unit at 240-773-6830. To be eligible for a reward, tipsters may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or submit a Crime Solvers tip online or via the app.  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to the arrest and/or indictment of this suspect.  Tipsters will remain anonymous.
