Detectives from the 6th District are investigating the stabbing, attempted robbery, and attempted sexual assault of a 52-year-old female that occurred just after she exited a bus in Gaithersburg.
On Wednesday, February 3 at approximately 9:08 p.m., 6th District officers responded to the report of an attempted robbery that had just occurred. Responding officers observed the victim suffering from a stab wound to her upper body and began treating her for her injuries. Fire and Rescue personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital.
Investigators determined that at approximately 9:00 p.m., the victim exited a bus at the intersection of Washington Grove Lane and Amity Drive and the male suspect approached her from behind and grabbed her. The victim reported that the suspect attempted to steal her purse and attempted to sexually assault her. During the assault, the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect fled the area on foot when he saw an approaching vehicle.
The victim described the suspect as a black male, approximately 5’10” tall, and wearing all dark clothing.
The Department is asking anyone who may have been in the area of Washington Grove Lane and Amity Drive during this time period and who may have seen the suspect or any suspicious activity to call the 6th District Investigative Section at 240-773-5770.
